Texas Woman Stands With School System Resisting Homosexual Student Club

(AgapePress) - A pro-family activist is urging a Texas school district to fight the formation of a homosexual club at one high school.

The Lubbock Public School System is being sued by 18-year-old Rene Caudillo, as part of his effort to start a homosexual club on his high school campus. However, many residents in the conservative west Texas community strongly object to the idea of such a group.

Judy Strickland is a former member of the Texas State Board of Education. She fully supports the Lubbock school district's resistance to homosexual activism, and has been vocal about making sure the school officials -- as well as the public -- know she is on their side.

"I called and just lent my support to them because very few school districts seem willing to take on a battle like this," Strickland says. She feels that for too long America, as a nation, has been "just rolling over and saying, 'Well OK, just let people do whatever they want to.'"

The outspoken Texan says it is imperative that Christians leave the sidelines and join the battle against the homosexual agenda. "This is a fight for the well-being of our children," she says.

Strickland believes it is clear that the agenda behind forming homosexual student clubs is to promote the wider acceptance of homosexuality. The former state education board member wants other believers to speak up against what is happening.

"It's deplorable that we as Christians are sitting back and letting this small minority just move like gangbusters," she says, "and of course, with the very sad ruling of the sodomy law in Texas's Supreme Court, they are moving very rapidly."

Strickland has sounded a call across Lubbock and beyond, saying to Christians, parents, and citizens everywhere to confront homosexual activism. "Stand up and be counted. Support these people who are taking on these issues," she says.

Strickland contends that the issue of a whether or not a homosexual student club should be allowed in the local school should be decided by the people of Lubbock rather than by a federal judge.
