Author says War on Terror an 'Ideological' Issue, Not a Racial One

(AgapePress) - An author and expert on Islam says Americans need to understand that terrorism is not an Arab problem, but an Islamic problem.

Robert Spencer recently released Onward Muslim Soldiers -- his sequel to Islam Unveiled. In both books, Spencer reveals the true nature of Islam and the threat it poses to the Judeo-Christian world. The adjunct fellow at the Free Congress Foundation (freecongress.org) says it is important to remember that most Arabs living in the United States are not Muslim.

"Seventy-seven percent of the Arabs in the United States are Christians," Spencer points out, "and one of the primary reasons why they're here is because the Muslims made it very difficult for them in their home countries, such that they saw that they could build a better life here."

He also notes that most Muslims in world are not Arabs -- and that the largest Muslim country in the world, in terms of population, is Indonesia, which is "hardly an Arab country."

Spencer says what the U.S. is facing is not a racial problem or a national problem, but an ideological and global problem. "That ideology is rooted in traditional Islam, and [it] is going to be with us until Muslims are able to reject it decisively on a global scale," he says.

Consequently, the author says, Americans need to debunk those who constantly say it is racist whenever U.S. authorities try to confront terrorism.
