(AgapePress) - A pro-family activist says members of Congress should be considering ways to reduce the rate of immigration -- not sponsoring legislation to allow more homosexuals into the country.
New York Democratic Congressman Jerrold Nadler has announced he now has 100 co-sponsors for House Resolution 690, known as the Permanent Partners Immigration Act. But the co-sponsors are a "who's who" list of the most liberal members of Congress, including Republican Jim Kolbe of Arizona, an open homosexual.
The bill would allow non-U.S. citizens in homosexual relationships with U.S. citizens the same immigration privileges as marriages between U.S. citizens and aliens. Ed Vitagliano of the American Family Association calls the bill a direct attack against marriage.
"To argue, as [Nadler] is doing, that homosexual, same-sex relationships are the equivalent of marriage and should be given the protection that was once given only to married couple seeking to come over to this country is proof that the liberal mindset is dead-set against traditional marriage," he says.
Vitagliano also says congressmen should not be pushing legislation that increases the chances of bringing in more people with infectious diseases like AIDS.
"Homosexuality leads to an increased risk of diseases, not the least of which is AIDS," he says. "But these sexually transmitted diseases will surely add to the health burden in this country as these immigrants come over with more diseases."
"I think we've got plenty of problems with the immigration system in this country -- we can't keep track of the ones that are coming in."
The researcher says the rules for entering the U.S. need to be restricted, not broadened.
No 'Picnic in the Park'
Meanwhile, homosexuals are taking over a Virginia park. According to The Washington Times, church groups, families, and Scout troops could gather and play at Conway Robinson State Forest in Prince William County 40 years ago -- but they cannot do that safely anymore.
That is because the state-owned nature reserve has become known over the last ten years as a place for homosexuals to meet anonymously and engage in perverse sexual activities.
But Virginia State Police have begun targeting sex offenders at Conway Robinson, with more than 50 arrests since May. State troopers note that many of the men were brazen in their sexual activities -- even to the extent of sexually assaulting undercover officers.
