Illinois High School Designates Lesbians as 'Cutest Couple'

By Jim Brown
December 20, 2002

(AgapePress) - Students at an Illinois public high school have named two lesbians the "cutest couple" on campus -- and school officials are praising the decision.

The two students at Crete-Monee High School are said to be longtime high-school sweethearts, and their parents have agreed to let a photograph of the couple appear in the school yearbook. The controversy has created quite a stir in Crete, a sleepy farming town in the suburbs south of Chicago. Meanwhile, school administrators are praising students who voted for the couple's designation.

Bob Knight

Bob Knight with the Culture and Family Institute says on the bright side, one does not hear many stories like this -- because most schools, he says, are not embracing sexual perversion and trying to make it seem normal.

"The administrators of this school ought to be sacked -- I'll just say that out front," the pro-family spokesman says. "You've got two sexually confused girls, one only 15 years old, and [the administrators are] actually celebrating and applauding their sexual confusion. That shows that these administrators are not fit to educate children."

Knight says concerned parents need to make their feelings known and translate that into action. "If someone doesn't speak out, situations like this will become more common all over the United States and more kids will experiment with homosexuality," he says.

"Nobody is born gay," Knight continues. "This is an attempt to give us the idea that it's inevitable, that these kids are going to be that way anyway, and no one should steer them toward the light [or] steer them toward normal sexuality. It's very dangerous."

Knight says homosexuality may not be chosen in terms of desire, but it certainly is chosen in terms of choice of behaviors -- and according to Knight, many people have overcome it.

The pro-family activist says it is "beyond irresponsible" for the school to use the two girls to promote the homosexual lifestyle, considering lesbians tend to have higher rates of certain bacterial infections as well as cervical and breast cancer, and tend to be more inclined to abuse alcohol and drugs.
