The Hard Line
A Pro-Life Victory in the Senate?

By R. Cort Kirkwood

(AgapePress) - The pro-lifers may think they've won a major victory, given the U.S. Senate's vote to abolish partial-birth abortion. Yet the bill has to clear the House of Representatives, and even if President Bush signs it, a court challenge awaits.

Whatever happens in court, some of us wish the pro-aborts would admit what they want, stop the lying about abortion and their agenda, and see where that gets them with voters.

Everyone on both sides knows abortion is legal because the pro-aborts, with the help of the lying lawyers and lying reporters, manufactured a massive mendacity, or series of smaller mendacities that amount to the Big One, worthy of Josef Goebbels.

One Set of Lies
The Roe v. Wade case was about a poor woman needing an abortion because she was raped, we were told. A lie; Roe wasn't raped. Deaths resulting from "back-alley" abortion were numerous, we were told. A lie; they were quite rare.

As for partial-birth itself, we heard it's a "rare" procedure performed mostly on children with severe "abnormalities" or where the life of the mother "was in danger." Again, a lie.

More insidiously, we have the lies accomplished through euphemism. The pro-aborts and their allies in the media talk about "fetuses" and "termination" and "products of conception."

They never discuss a pregnancy or unborn child the way a normal person would; i.e., pregnant women don't talk about their "fetuses."

You never hear an expectant mom say, 'I just can't wait 'til my fetus is born." She doesn't dance out the front door a few weeks after she gets the good news, if she waits that long, and say, "I'm going shopping for the fetus. Honey, better start painting the fetus' room." She doesn't rush up to her husband, beaming with joy, place his hand to her tummy and say, "Feel the fetus kick."

Pro-aborts, on the other hand, hide the evil and reality of abortion by denying what it is: killing a baby.

One Simple Truth
The other two lies constitute the two mains reasons abortion must be "safe and legal." Lately, by the way, they've added "rare," wordplay that is embarrassing it's so disingenuous.

Anyway, you've heard the two main reasons: "health of the mother" and "more back-alley abortions." The truth, however, is simpler, and after listening to all the lies, getting at the truth of abortion is remarkably easy.

The pro-aborts use only one term honestly: "unwanted pregnancy." This is the one and only reason they want abortion "safe and legal." If they could add the word "free," they would.

The children aren't wanted because they interfere with the modern woman's career, education, personal fulfillment, or whatever. They interfere with her "rights." As for men, "terminating the pregnancy" suits them just fine. They duck the duty of fatherhood.

Whatever's needed to get rid of the flesh-and-blood impediment to happiness is fine.

No Victory Until ...
Some of us wish the pro-aborts would simply tell the truth and say:

"We want the right to murder our children. And we want that right, whether using a pill at conception or a pair of scissors to the skull minutes before natural birth."

Until the public understands what the pro-aborts really want, abortion will remain legal, although it won't be rare or safe, at least for the "fetus."
