New Movie Cited as Latest Example of Hollywood's Anti-Christian Bias

(AgapePress) - An official with the American Family Association says a new movie proves that Hollywood has a vendetta against Christians who hold to the absolute truth of scripture.

Last weekend, Frailty, starring Matthew McConaughey, was released. According to reviews, the movie focuses on a dad who tells his two sons that he is on a mission from God to kill people possessed by demons.

Ed Vitagliano, director of research for the AFA, says the movie portrays Christians in a negative light.

"We, in fact, find this film -- at least the description of it -- to be a further indication of the fact that Hollywood, for the most part, has a vendetta against Christians, especially Christians who hold to the absolute truths of scripture," he says. "They continually portray us on both big screen and small screen as either loud-mouthed, self-righteous hypocrites, or apparently in this case, cold-blooded fanatical murderers."

Vitagliano says Hollywood’s hostility toward Christians is nothing new. "I don’t think anybody here at AFA would argue that nobody has ever committed a crime in the name of religion, or even in the name of Christianity," he says. "However, Hollywood seems to only portray Christians in a negative light. Very rarely is there a movie which shows the Christian faith in a positive light."

Reviews also warn the movie has graphic violence, profanity, and scenes of mental child abuse. Vitagliano says Christian parents should be careful about not only what they watch, but also what they allow their children to watch.
