Planned Parenthood Welcomes Methodist as First Full-Time Chaplain

(AgapePress) - A pro-life group says a Methodist pastor has become the first full-time chaplain for one of the nation's leading abortion providers.

The Pro-Life Infonet says Monica Corsaro has taken a job with Planned Parenthood in Washington State. In doing so, she becomes the first full-time, statewide chaplain for the national abortion industry. According to the report, Corsaro will be providing "pastoral counseling" to women seeking abortions, working with abortion facility staff, acting as a liaison with the religious community, and lobbying for abortion.

The Pro-Life Infonet says Corsaro will play a pivotal role in Planned Parenthood's public-relations battle against what its leaders claim is a false perception that most religious organizations are opposed to the pro-abortion organization.

The report quotes Corsaro as saying she believes in each person's ability to make choices, including choices about one's body. She says most women who arrive for an abortion at Planned Parenthood believe God is going to send them to hell. But Corsaro says she tries to focus on telling them God loves them, too.

According to the report, the official position of the United Methodist Church is in support of abortion. But two of the largest religious denominations in the U.S. -- the Southern Baptist Convention and the Catholic Church -- are against abortion. Others that take strong pro-life positions include the Assemblies of God, Church of the Nazarene, and the Mormon Church.

Corsaro was appointed to the Planned Parenthood position in January by Methodist Bishop Elias Galvan, of the Pacific Northwest Conference of the United Methodist Church. Pro-Life Infonet is encouraging pro-life Methodists to register their complaints with Galvan.

Eminent Headache
Meanwhile, a local abortion facility in Bridgeport, Connecticut will soon have a new home in the heart of the city's commercial district -- at taxpayers' expense. The move will cost taxpayers $300,000 in moving and relocation costs, and it is outraging many pro-life and political leaders in the city.

A new state courthouse and juvenile detention center are currently under construction in Bridgeport's downtown area. As the city clears a site for the construction, it will have to pay the relocation costs for several city businesses, including the Summit Women's Center abortion facility. This falls under the state's eminent domain law.

While there is no controversy surrounding the eminent domain law, there is regarding the new site for the abortion business. The clinic's new location will be 42nd and Main Streets -- one of the busiest intersections in the City of Bridgeport.
