| White House Accused of Appeasing, Pandering to Homosexual Lobby By Fred Jackson and Bill Fancher (AgapePress) - A pro-family group is accusing the White House of a pattern of appeasement when it comes to the homosexual agenda. The Family Research Council (FRC) says the latest incident involves the apparent willingness of the Bush Administration to cave in to homosexuals' demands for changes to the controversial $15 billion international AIDS bill. FRC quotes a report which says the president is ready to endorse the idea of using taxpayers' dollars for condom handout schemes in Africa -- a move, it says, that will just make it more difficult to pass amendments promoting abstinence and monogamy. As FRC president Ken Connor puts it: "The White House capitulation to the condom crowd appears to be yet another aspect of a stealth strategy to pander to the homosexual lobby." Homosexual activists are strong advocates of the "safe sex" concept that widespread availability of condoms in an area of sexual promiscuity is a remedy to the AIDS epidemic in Africa. He also points to the fact that the president has previously appointed a homosexual activist to the White House AIDS Office, and approved a taxpayer-funded "domestic partners" package for homosexuals in the District of Columbia. Connor warns: "This misguided political strategy will serve only to alienate pro-family voters." Tiresome Double-Standard
"I think people are starting to tire of this idea ... that anybody who says anything remotely critical of homosexual behavior is being shouted down or being boycotted or being attacked as a bigot," LaBarbera says. LaBarbera thinks the homosexual community wants expression of religious beliefs limited to the interior of the church. But he says calling people "bigots" will not change the fact that the Bible condemns the lifestyle as "sinful" and "abnormal." © 2003 AgapePress all rights reserved.
