Actor Says God Provides All Believers Need to Overcome 'Witness Intimidation'
Kirk Cameron Calls Fulfilling Great Commission 'The Ultimate Thrill' for Christians

(AgapePress) - A well-known actor is encouraging Christians to discover the excitement of sharing their faith with nonbelievers.

Studies show that less than five percent of evangelical Christians routinely share the gospel with people who do not believe in Christ. According to Kirk Cameron, the young actor best known for his roles in the television series Growing Pains and the Left Behind films, that statistic shows that most Christians are not taking steps to fulfill the Great Commission.

But Cameron encourages Christians intimidated by the idea of witnessing to recognize it as for the thrilling adventure that it is. "If you're into Fear Factor and swallowing lizards and doing crazy things like bungee jumping," he says, "try sharing your faith. Try getting into the battle to win souls for eternity."

Cameron says sharing one's faith with others is both the ultimate thrill and the ultimate challenge, "and you can do it successfully when you draw on God for your strength and you learn how to use the tools that He's given you."

To help fellow Christians learn how to do that, Cameron has teamed up with California evangelist Ray Comfort, and developed a ministry called The Way of the Master to equip Christians to share their faith biblically.

The co-creator of Way of the Master believes many Christians are discouraged and fearful about sharing their faith, as he was many years ago. "I had been so brainwashed by many of the popular methods that we use today," he says, "and then been discouraged and sort of left evangelism up to Billy Graham and Josh McDowell, figuring I wasn't very good at it."

But now Cameron explains, all that has changed. "Once I learned a few biblical principles that I could put into practice, man, it opened up a whole new world to sharing my faith, and now I look for opportunities every day," he says.

Through the Way of the Master ministry, which includes an interactive website, Bible study tools, and other resources, Cameron and Comfort offer believers biblical methods for fulfilling Christ's commandment to go out into the world and make disciples.
