Activist Lauds TX Lawmakers for Resisting Homosexual Agenda

By Mary Rettig
April 27, 2005

(AgapePress) - The president of a pro-family group in Texas says two pieces of pro-family legislation in the state are on their way to being passed.

Last week the Texas House passed a reform of Child Protective Services that included an amendment barring homosexuals from being foster parents. According to Cathie Adams of the Texas Eagle Forum, a study done in Illinois provided good reasons for that amendment.

While opponents of the bill might try to question the relevance of the out-of-state study, its findings are clearly pertinent since the research indicates that children "are eleven times more likely to be sexually abused if they are in homosexual foster-parent homes," Adams says. "So we're talking about the same situation here -- apples and apples. Homosexual homes in Texas we don't think are probably very different."

The Texas Eagle Forum spokeswoman says she is "very glad" that lawmakers in the State House have made a very clear statement that the people of Texas "do hold to traditional families," and do agree with "the definition that marriage is between a man and a woman; that family is a mommy and a daddy; and that children can best grow up to be all they can be in a heterosexual home."

This week, the pro-family activist notes also, the Texas legislature is discussing a constitutional amendment to defend traditional marriage. She says if the measure is passed by the state House and Senate, it will be on the November 2005 ballot. If that happens, Adams feels certain the Texas Marriage Amendment will easily pass with the voters, because it already has widespread public support.
