(AgapePress) - An author who wrote a book about the underlying goals of the homosexual movement is defending Senator Rick Santorum for stating the pro-family view of homosexuality during a recent interview.
When asked recently about a pending Supreme Court case that is reviewing the Texas sodomy law, Santorum said if the high court okays consensual homosexual sex in the home, that opens the door for bigamy, polygamy, incest, and adultery. [See Related Article]
Christopher Wolfe has edited two books focusing on the homosexual agenda. He says homosexual-rights activists are upset because Santorum's remarks make sense.
"The key thing about homosexuality is that it's a validation of the idea that sex is simply about a personal relationship and that there's no essential connection between it and family -- especially children," Wolfe explains.
"And insofar as we embrace homosexuality and legitimize it, we're embracing an understanding of sexuality that's really at odds with the foundations of the family."
Homosexual activists often claim they are persecuted by Christians who use scripture to show that homosexuality is a sinful and harmful lifestyle. But Wolfe says just as one would confront an alcoholic about their behavior, it is compassionate to tell homosexuals there is a better way.
"Alcoholics engage in a certain kind of activity that is, to a great extent, private, although it can sometimes have public implications," he says. "And yet we still think that there's an interest that society has in encouraging people not to become alcoholic, because it's harmful to them and potentially could lead to action that is harmful to others."
In the same way, Wolfe says Christians must continue to speak the truth in love to those who are in bondage to the homosexual lifestyle. He is editor of Homosexuality and American Public Life and Same-Sex Matters: The Challenge of Homosexuality.
