'Stop AIDS Project' Apparently Wasn't

By Bill Fancher
June 23, 2003

(AgapePress) - A congressman from Indiana has taken a lot of heat from the national media, but his actions have thwarted the use of tax dollars to promote the homosexual lifestyle.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had been giving $700,000 to a San Francisco-based anti-AIDS effort called the Stop AIDS Project. However, Republican Congressman Mark Souder's investigation found that the money was actually going to a series of workshops promoting the homosexual lifestyle.

Souder reports that among the workshops were instructions on how to pick up a date, participate in "intimate games," and even one called "Dirty Thoughts: A Four-Part Erotic Writing Workshop" -- as well as others he described as "so grotesque" that no family publication could possibly print them.

According to Souder, the money was intended to promote AIDS prevention and awareness -- but that has not been the case.

"[The incidence of] AIDS has been going up in San Francisco, where this group is supposed to having an impact," he reports. "It's been going up nationally."

He says that should not be a surprise, considering how the money has been used. "If they're promoting gay sex and irresponsible gay sex ... of course AIDS is going to go up," he says. "AIDS is not going to go down, [it is] going to go up if you're promoting it."

Through Congressman Souder's efforts, the CDC has turned off the tax dollar "spigot" that was pouring money into the Stop AIDS Project. Souder believes there are more such abuses of AIDS prevention funding taking place around the country.
