(AgapePress) - A British author and newspaper editor says the European Union is moving rapidly toward what he calls "the new Unholy Roman Empire."

Alan Franklin says he has seen firsthand what has been happening in Great Britain and the Continent, as the European Union has grown in stature. He says for one thing, nearly a dozen countries have recently adopted the euro as their standard currency. But in his book, EU: Final World Empire, Franklin details how Europe is moving toward a dictatorship.

"I say that we're 'sleepwalking' into a super-state," Franklin says. "And of course, what we have here is all the signs of a dictatorship in the making. I mean there's any number of roles and rules restricting what people say and write."

Franklin says he is calling this new European super-state "the new Unholy Roman Empire" because there is nothing very godly about it. "In fact, it's quite anti-Christian in nature and spirit," he says.

The author says that "empire" is being recreated at a tremendous rate and being put together by stealth. The result, he says, will be a huge new country he believes is going to be quite hostile to America.
