Evangelical Group Finds Increased 'Tolerance' of Gospel Among Young Jews

By Chad Groening
July 30, 2004

(AgapePress) - The co-founder of Jews for Jesus says younger Jews have become much more tolerant and open-minded to discuss the case that Jesus is exactly who He claims He is: the Jewish Messiah.

Jews for Jesus is wrapping up its month-long summer evangelism campaign in New York City. Susan Perlman, the first assistant to the executive director of Jews for Jesus, has been part of the team that has been passing out tracts and talking to people about Jesus. She says many young Jews have become more open to the gospel message.

"Some of [them] don't have their parents' preconceptions and are recognizing the fact that if we're going to be tolerant about all these other things, why can't we just be tolerant to discuss the possibility that Jesus is who He claimed to be. What are we so afraid of?" Perlman asks.

"In many ways," she continues, "a lot of Jews have become much more tolerant and open-minded to discuss the case for Jesus today."

The Jews for Jesus spokeswoman says while most Jews still reject the gospel of Christ, her organization will continue to search for the handful of souls who God has prepared to receive it.
